Week 17 - Look Who's Talking

The official week 17 belly photo:

Helloooo, baby. According to babycenter.com, Blue Jr.'s " skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone," and he/she "weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop." I'm hoping that with those bones forming, I'll start to feel the baby moving; let's bring another sense into this pregnancy, eh?

I've gotten into the habit of talking to the baby in the car, in the shower, on walks - anytime we're alone together. It's kind of funny because now that we're together all the time, I'm never alone anymore. Blue Jr. is always there whether I have something to say or whether I'm just saying something so he/she can hear my voice. It was awkward at first, narrating the day's events - telling the baby that we're driving to work, what's on the radio, what day it is and what we have planned for the weekend. But then it became more natural, and now I feel like Blue Jr. has almost become Felicity's tape recorder - the ears to my dictated daily diary. But since I'm trying to be a good pre-mom, I leave out any gorey details of the day's happenings, or at least try to put a positive spin on them. It's really therapeutic and I hope the baby is enjoying it as much as I am.

I talked to Lola all the time as well. You will probably begin to feel movement any day now - I felt it really early with Lola, but considering her size...not so surprising. Love your pictures and your blog!

The strange cravings will come soon enough...I tell Lola she is made up of french fries and kitkats ;)

Miranda - It's totally bonding time, and it's so nice.

Kristin - Right now I have seefood cravings: I see food and I want it. Today someone's McDonald's trash resulted in my leaving work at 9:30 to get an egg mcmuffin and a hashbrown.
